ABOUT LI CHIAO-PING DANCELi Chiao-Ping Dance (LCPD) was founded in 1990 and has made Madison, Wisconsin its home since 1993. LCPD is a resident company of Overture Center for the Arts and produces three major performances each year. It offers workshops and touring programs throughout North America. The company is dedicated to offering programs of emotionally charged and athletic works, with striking visual design and the music of contemporary composers. It is also committed to making dance accessible to a variety of people—as audience members and participants. LCPD collaborates with K-12 schools to offer performances as residencies, and we continue to teach movement workshops at senior center communities.
This family friendly concert is packed with humor and delight, and will feature new choreography, fan favorites, and rarely seen works by award-winning movement artist Li Chiao-Ping. Coming fresh off LCPD’s “Here Lies the Truth” national tour, dancers Katelyn Altmann, Kimi Evelyn, Piper Morgan Hayes, Elisa Hildner, Cassie Last, Elisabeth Roskopf, and Abbi Stickels will wow audiences with their performance chops, comedic stylings, and athletic capabilities. The program includes “strange but familiar,” “Sur La Table,” “WhatNot, You Think,” “concrete,” and one of Li’s award-winning, seminal works “Gó” which was selected to perform at the Kennedy Center for the Arts. Also on the program, “Nuts and Bolts,” the memorable Dynasty-clad trio, and two short works from “The Knotcracker,” including “It’s a Slippery Slope” and “e-Racers.” There will be a talk-back discussion with the artists and dancers on Thursday after the show, and on Friday evening, there will be a reception in the Virginia Harrison Parlor immediately following the performance.
