DEPARTMENT-SPECIFIC POLICIES
The Dance Department has specific policies and content that should be added to your syllabus and to Canvas. If you have questions about any of these items, contact the chair.

Risk StatementsEvery student in a movement class must fill out a risk form. Please make sure you inform your students verbally and in writing that they must fill out this form to participate. We have prepared a tutorial on how to set up an electronic quiz in Canvas to create an “electronic quiz” to satisfy this documentation. Please FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS. If you have any difficulty with this, please contact Sally Roedl.

Use of Contact and Touch PolicyThe department has a Use of Contact and Touch policy that you should include in your syllabus, if it applies to your course. If you have questions about whether you should include this policy on your syllabus, contact the chair. Absence Policy and Concert RequirementsPlease include both the absence policy and concert requirements in your syllabus which are available online here: https://dance.wisc.edu/academics/course-policies/. Any questions about either of these policies can be directed to the chair.

Dance Communications for DANCE DEGREE & CERTIFICATE students

CANVAS COMMUNICATIONS FOR DANCE DEGREE & CERTIFICATE STUDENTSDance degree and certificate students will receive communications via the CANVAS Communications site. Dance faculty & instructors will be ALSO BE ADDED as “students” to the Dance Communications on Canvas, so that they have access to the same information that is sent to our degree candidates and certificate students.

Dance Communications for INTRODUCTORY (elective) students

EMAIL COMMUNICATIONS FOR ALL DANCE STUDENTS

Students enrolled in introductory courses (elective classes) and all of our degree and certificate students will get periodic email communications. Students are added to a semester email list called ALL DANCE STUDENTS. Information sent to this list will include concert information, ushering opportunities, course/program offerings and more.

If you have a student enrolled in your class who is not receiving these messages, contact Kelly Kwiatkowski at kkwiatkowski@wisc.edu.
