Plan Your Visit to the Dance Department

Students interested a dance degree at UW-Madison are encouraged to visit the department. We recommend prospective students and their families plan their visits on Mondays during the academic year so that they may be able to experience life on campus and learn more about dance at UW-Madison while classes are in session.

Plan to be on campus from 11:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Your visit with us will begin with a 30-minute meeting with our recruitment coordinator, Karen McShane-Hellenbrand. Visitors will then have the opportunity to spend 60 minutes viewing our three levels of technique classes followed by a tour of Lathrop Hall with our building manager, Al Leggett beginning at 12:45 p.m.

After the building tour, we encourage our visitors to have a quick lunch and finally, we recommend scheduling a campus walking tour from 3:00-4:45 p.m. with Campus and Visitor Relations. Upon arrival, visitors should check in at the Dance Office in 125 Lathrop Hall. See recommended schedule below.

If you are unable to plan your visit on a Monday during the academic year contact Karen McShane-Hellenbrand (or by phone at 608/262-3679). If you would like to plan a visit during the summer months please contact the Dance Office at 608/262-1691 so we can accommodate your visit.
