UW-Madison's Skog to receive 2018 Wisconsin Dance Council Distinction Award

February 21, 2018

UW-Madison's Marlene Skog will receive the 2018 Wisconsin Dance Council Distinction Award.

Skog is an assistant professor with the School of Education's Dance Department.

Skog’s career as performer, award winning choreographer and teacher spans over 25 years at home and abroad. A native New Yorker born in Brooklyn, Skog studied in the hub of dance including the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, Merce Cunningham Studios, New Dance Group and Ballet Arts-Carnegie Hall. She teaches ballet and World Dance Cultures.

The Wisconsin Dance Council was founded in 1966. In 1984, it began recognizing people who have made significant contributions to dance education, dance therapy, choreography, performance, dance production, dance research, and the general support of dance in Wisconsin.

Skog will be honored at the 2018 Dance Council Conference, Award Reception, and Ceremony on Aug. 18 in Neenah.
